Already proven in military applications, the FIRE Panel technology has now been used on the racetracks of professional motorsports. Today, the Precision Preparations, Inc. Motorsports (PPIM) team is the first to use and evaluate a custom version of the FIRE Panel inside the trunk compartment of its No. 32 Pontiac, driven by Ricky Craven on the NASCAR® circuit. (full press release) Earlier versions of the FIRE Panel were road tested in competition using racing vehicles from the SCCA® Trans-Am® Series

The FIRE Panel's durable construction withstood the rigors of the high-speed track racing. Plus, the lightweight characteristic of the FIRE Panel added virtually no weight to the racing vehicles. With the FIRE Panel's channel design, it easy to customize and fit any area including a fuel cell or a rear crush panel. With a severe impact, the FIRE Panel will fill the trunk with its fire suppressing dry chemical power, which will render the entire compartment “inert”, disallowing combustion to occur.

Scott Miller, PPIM’s Crew Chief stated, “We’re always looking for any means of making our racecar safer. That’s one of our owner’s objectives is to make the safest possible car for our driver. So, it seemed like a natural fit for us.”
